my lovely grandma passed away a few years back… on the eve of her 98th birthday, surrounded by most of her children, 30 years to the day of the death of my grandma, who was 30 years older than her.
she was such an amazing woman, for so many reasons. She had something like ten kids, 40 grandkids, 70 great-grandchildren, and 100+ great-great grands. when i was younger, she use to tell me to “keep the babies in baby land” and then slip me cash as my reward for going to school. and she made the best fried chicken ever and wore fierce turquoise jewelry.
one of the wonderful things, with so much family floating around, and this great invention called the internets, is that there are pictures and video of her floating around.
